Review: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Walkyrie

Matte nude shades have really been on-trend and I've really been getting into them. I found the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in my stash so from ages ago. I think I got it in a Cohorted beauty box a while ago and have been hooked for the past few months! So I thought I'd write up a little review for you guys.

I've grown to love the Walkyrie Lip Pencil so much! It's definitely my go-to. It's a such a gorgeous nude brown shade - not too dark and not too light. The picture makes it look like it's got a tinge of pink but that's the lighting. It is a browny nude but I find it's perfect for my lip and skin tone - it's not obvious but obvious enough.

I've worn it during the day and on many nights out and I do find myself re-applying sometimes. However if left you definitely still get a tinge of the shade left on your lips. I'm never really worrying about how my lip colour is doing when I've got this on. So I would recommend it for staying power because it does pretty well.

I was bit wary of matte lip products, apart from the Charlotte Tilbury range, because my lips tend to get quite dry and the cracked look is never a good one. But I find this just glides on and doesn't crack. It doesn't feel dry when you apply it - in fact you can hardly feel it. It doesn't smudge (of course) and being a matte lip pencil you don't have to worry about it drying like with liquid lipsticks.

Considering I've had it for a few months, it still seems to fine in consistency and has lasted a very decent length of time (as you can see). I do find myself sharpening it pretty often because the tip does get flat after 5/6 uses.

I get the feeling this shade would go with most skin tones and most outfits. It's a very versatile shade so I applaud Nars for making such a great lip product. I'm intrigued to try more of their lip pencils now and see if they live up to expectations too.

However, if like me you're not a massive matte liquid lipstick fan but love a matte lip, I'd definitely say give Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil a try!

I'd love to know if you've tried any other Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil shades and your thoughts!
