Body Shop Event in Nottingham

A few weeks ago, I went an event at the Nottingham Bridlesmith Gate Body Shop (sorry it's taken me so long to upload), all about showcasing their products and we even got a sneak peak of a new Autumn collection - out now btw.

Here's a few pictures of the great evening.

23 Thoughts I've had before turning 23

I'm writing this post pretty late - the night before my 23rd birthday - because I've only just thought of this idea. Anyway, tomorrow I turn 23. I've had many different thoughts in the lead up to tomorrow and I just wanted to share some, as I hope most people have had similar thoughts.

Staying Safe on Dating Apps

If you read my previous post, you'll know I spoke about dating apps like Tinder. So, I'm following that on with this second post about staying safe on dating apps and with online dating websites.

I've seen and heard so many stories recently about online and app dating going wrong. Most of the time in the circumstances I read about, there was no way in the first instance, the person could've known their experience would turn out that bad.

Europe 2017 Diaries. Amsterdam is just bikes!

Amsterdam
It was hard to believe, by the time we got to Amsterdam that 14 days were nearly over. It was hard to think we'd started in France and were ending in Amsterdam in a couple of days.

Edam
We started in a small town called Edam, famous for Edam cheese with a Cheese tasting and Clog demonstration! The cheese was yum. We tried so many different flavours from smoked ham to paprika to nettle, which surprisingly tasted quite nice. I was so tempted to buy every flavour but knew once I'd come home it just wouldn't taste the same as abroad.

My Experience of Tinder

Dating Apps have only grown and grown in popularity over the past few years. So many of us are now using apps like Tinder to not just find a relationship but a companion, hook-up, one night stand etc...

By the title of this post you will have already guessed that I'm on Tinder.

And having seen so much recently about how dating app meet-ups and relationships can wrong, I wanted to share with you some tips and a few of my thoughts on Tinder.

Europe 2017 Diaries. A bit of German history.

Germany
I'm going to be honest, when I booked this trip Germany or Amsterdam (our final stop) had never been the real reasons why I booked it. They were just added bonuses for me.

Munich
We didn't have long in Germany but spent some time in Munich. Unfortunately, I got a little ill while I was there and had to spend some time in bed.

Munich very much reminded me of London - modern and lively.

What I've Learnt from Volunteering

Since I've not been working, I've been spending my time volunteering in a local charity shop. I was never made to spend 24/7 at home and so volunteering in my free time seemed like that logical thing to do.

I loved it! But finished a few weeks ago because I have been offered a new job and then planned to go on my travels.

However, working and volunteering in a charity shop definitely taught me a few things...

Europe 2017 Diaries. All about Italian food and architecture.

Italy
Next country was Italy. And of all the stops, this was the country I was looking forward to the most by FAR! Not just because I LOVE PIZZA but because I'd heard so much about Italy and the architecture and the beauty of the country.

Pisa
First came Pisa... home of the Leaning Tower of Pisa of course. It was just a quick stop but if you're in Italy it's something you have to see right?

It still baffles me that it used to be straight but was 'put back' to leaning...

Review: Tom Ford Indian Rose Lipstick

I've always been one that maybe, surprisingly, has dreamt of the day I owned some Tom Ford makeup. I know it's not 'that' expensive but I've just never been able to justify spending that much myself.

But a few months ago, my first Tom Ford lipstick landed in my hands. The shade - Indian Rose. And the excitement was real, let's put it that way.

Europe 2017 Diaries. It All Began in France.

A few weeks ago I made the very quick decision to plan a holiday. I knew I had some time before I started my new job (which I have done now) and just instantaneously thought to myself, I want to go on holiday/away.

Looking at different options, I knew I wanted to do and see as much as I could. And so turned to a company called STA, who specialise in booked tours. Within a couple of hours of walking into their office, I'd decided to book a 14 day adventure around Europe - EU Highlights.

And I definitely made a great decision to do it! I could ramble on for ages about where we went and what we did and the people I met. But I'm going to try and keep it short and split up these posts by country so you have different posts to look forward to. (or jealous of..sorry)

So, we started out in London. Not a massively fascinating place for me, but as I later found out, for the mix nationalities on the tour with me, London was one to see.

Tattoos: Acceptable or Taboo?

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I got my very first tattoo last month! A decision that took an awful lot of thinking to come to. I spoke to a few close people and found a few mixed opinions on whether they'd get a tattoo themselves, which did actually make me think for a bit.

Interview Tips

For this post I thought I'd go back to a little post I wrote a few weeks about taking the next step after university/college and looking for a job. So what's the next step once you've applied for the job?

The interview right? And so here are a few tips and pointers to help you out.

FYI, I'm not claiming to be an interview genius but from having been on an accountable number of interviews, since I became of legal age to work, I thought I'd just share some to help anyone in that position...

Review: Newtons Labs Charcoal Nose Pore Strips

I'll be honest, I've always been intrigued by pore strips and heard mixed reviews on whether you should really use them. But curiosity got the better of me and I went out and bought some. Newtons Labs T-Zone Skincare Charcoal Nose Pore Strips to be exact.

Packing Tips for travelling solo

As you read this, I'll be on a 2 week trip around Europe, solo. Well almost solo, I'm travelling with a small group of others visiting places like Paris, Venice and Amsterdam - more on that when I get back - but I won't actually know anyone until I meet them.

I'm obviously writing this post a few weeks in advance and as I countdown to the day I leave, I thought I'd share some tips with you about packing for a solo adventure, that I'm slowly learning or have been given.

Tips to help you sleep properly

For the past a year or so I've been going through phases of sleeping properly and then not sleeping so well. I've been given so much advice from everyone about how to deal with the problem but not everything has always worked for me. However, I thought I'd share it with you and give you some tips if you're struggling too.

Finishing my job and what it's taught me

I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago about Opening Up and within it I explained that I'd finished my job. A scary thought when you're looking for a job but haven't got one yet. Going through it has taught me a few things, I've had a few revelations and I'd just love to share some tips if you are thinking about leaving a job or have just lost your job etc...

Tips for the Post University Lifestyle

A few weeks ago I was invited back to my old university - Sheffield Hallam - for an annual Grad Talk, where these graduates are invited back to talk about their experiences after university and entering the working life.

I was wondering what to post about next and looking through my old posts, I haven't written a post university one yet. So bingo. Here you go.

Matte nude shades have really been on-trend and I've really been getting into them. I found the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in my stash so from ages ago. I think I got it in a Cohorted beauty box a while ago and have been hooked for the past few months! So I thought I'd write up a little review for you guys.

Book Review: The Reader on the 6.27 by Jean-Paul Didierlaurent

As you all know by now, ever since I read The Girl on the Train, I've found it hard to get into another book just because of how engrossed and obsessed I became with it. I went out a few weeks after, with the aim to keep reading, and bought The Reader on the 6.27. But never properly got round to reading it until now... (I'm sorry this is another book review, I had scheduled this before my previous one but that needed to go up first)

The Harry Potter Tag: Would You Rather

So I'm switching it up completely for this post. I thought I'd do some fun and something I haven't done in a while actually. I did a Harry Potter Tag ages ago on my blog, and recently came across a Would You Rather HP tag so of course I wanted to fit it into my blog because of the HUGE HP fan that I am. (I've even been to Warner Bros Studios - amazing and would love to go back!)

I also thought I'd mix up my content and posts... So here ya go!

Opening Up

I had a bit of a revelation over weekend about opening up, feelings and emotions. I'm evidently quite private about how much I share on my blog as it's out there for everyone to read and this seems to be a common factor in my actual life too. I've read so many blog posts over the years where people just share what's been going on in their mind and share advice and are pretty open. And those are often my favourites because they're raw and real life.

Should I Start a Blog or Not?

Whether you know it or not, blogging can be a time consuming a hobby or even job for some. For some people I guess it's not just as easy as 'Oh I'll get writing' when it comes to blogging. With so many blogs out there now, a common question people ask themselves is 'should I actually start a blog or not?' If you're in that position right now, wondering what to do, here's some tips and questions to answer to help you with the decision.

Review: Skin & Tonic Naked Beauty Oil

Unless you're an organic and natural skincare enthusiast, you may not have heard of the brand Skin & Tonic. They're an organic, cruelty-free, natural skincare brand in London who make a whole range of products from oils to scrubs. They even make a beard oil and say their products are unisex. So, I've recently been getting into their Naked Beauty Oil (30ml).

Blog Update

Hi all,

Just a quick post. I said at the start of the year I wanted to post more frequently. And since then I've had an epiphany that I want to completely re-do my blog!

So for now I won't be posting on This Adventure of Mine. I want a blog I'm completely happy with and I noticed that some of my social media links weren't working properly! If I'm going to start blogging again I want everything to be perfect and something I can really be proud of.

So I will be taking some time out to re-do this. Hopefully this won't be too long and I promise I will be back.

It's not goodbye just see you soon!

Vienna 2016

The second my posts that should've gone up last week is about my trip to Vienna. Yup, I decided to cram in holidays towards the end of the year. After coming back from India, I went to Vienna at the start of December with some friends. And honestly it's one of the most beautiful cities I've been too!

This is going to be post full of pictures by the way...

India 2016

I'm catching up on a few posts that should've gone out last year (bad me) and the first is about a trip to India I took in November 2016.

My mums side of the family is out there, so we mainly went to see them and spend time with my nan, mums brother and sister and their family. It was an amazing trip and I definitely didn't want to come home.

We flew into Mumbai and then had a connecting a flight to a city called Rajkot, in Gujarat. My uncle lives here so it very much felt like home!

The Bloggers Christmas Calendar Swap

Hi all,

First of all let me apologise for how crappy I've been with blogging over the past 8/9 months. I've just not been on it and I know that's my fault. But 2017 is a new year and I would gradually like to start blogging more. So I'm not promising regular posts but when I feel like it I'll definitely be updating this little page.

Anyway back to this post. A many few months ago, I agreed to take part in a Blogger Christmas Calendar Swap! (Sorry this post is a little late) Organised by the lovely Jess & Jay, I was given another blogger and had a to create an Advent Calendar of goodies for them.

I was paired with Jess from An Ounce of Grace. And as soon I was given her as my swap, I quickly started to buy my 25 things for the advent calendar. I was on holiday for most of November so had to be quick with buying.

I tried to find a mix of things and I hope Jess liked them! I couldn't wait to get back from holiday and see what she'd sent me!
