Book Review: The Girl on the Train By Paula Hawkins

This is a bit of a different post from my usual ones. I've never written a book review on my blog, so I'm not sure how this'll turn out. But here goes.

I had to write to write one for this book. I'd heard and read so much about it - The Girl on the Train - that I eventually gave in and decided to buy a copy. And I definitely didn't regret it.

It's so brilliantly written. At first it makes you wonder how something so simple - a girl on a train - can be turned into a story, something worth reading but it has been. Definitely.

I don't want to give too much away but it's written in a diary style, flicking between characters. I loved this, because although at first I was a little confused trying to remember where the story had left off with different characters, it worked! All of the people in story are linked somehow so it all fits together. You get to see the story from all sides as well.

The plot goes into the background of the girl on the train and what happens when she's on the train. It just goes on from there. It's so hard to write this and explain how addicted I was to this book, without telling you a complete synopsis. But trust me. It's one to read.

It slightly reminded of a Gone Girl type story because of how it's written and how 'trippy' parts of it are. So if you loved Gone Girl this could be one for you.

It sounds so simple, maybe boring at first but once you start reading you won't want to stop. I read the book in 3 days!

There were definitely moments where I had my jaw wide open (yes I'm that sad). But you do get caught up in the book.

I love books that I don't want to put down and this was definitely one of them. So if you love books like that too, try this.

I honestly can't say enough about The Girl on the Train. I'm trying to get back into reading and was a fantastic book to start with. I rarely get 'excited' about a book but this has got me.

I know a film version of the book is being released and I can't wait to watch it. Maybe I did it the wrong way becuase now I have preconceptions of how they characters should look and act. (Ooops) Oh well it'll be great to see how it turns out.

But if you are looking for a new book to read, I'd definitely 100% recommend giving The Girl on the Train.

I kind of want there to be another one now. But I'm not sure how Paula Hawkins would right another one. It's not one of those books that finishes with a massive cliff hanger. But I guess we'll see.

Let me know if you've already read The Girl on the Train and what you thought. I'd love some suggestions on what to pick up next as well. I'll also leave some links below to where you could buy TGOTT from.
