Saying Goodbye to 2015. And saying Hello 2016

Twenty fifteen has been one crazy year. And my god does it scare me that I'm already writing a look back post. I feel like 2015 has been the year that has taught me the most and the one where I've had to grow up.

So much has happened, it's hard to believe how quickly its gone.

Blogmas Day 25: Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm going to keep this post fairly short and just wish you a Happy Xmas. I hope you have a brilliant day and Santa brings you everything you wanted.

My day is starting fairly early prepping food and travelling to my oldest cousins for brunch and presents opening.

I'm a little too excited to see what everyone's got. And particular as we've done secret santa amongst the cousins what we've got each other.

I can't actually believe I've done blogmas and left it til 2 days before it started to plan it. But hey I did it and I hope you've enjoyed it.

Anyway have a fab day. Enjoy the food, drinks and films. And here's a little Christmas mix of songs to get you in the mood.

Enjoy. Lots of love.

Blogmas Day 24: Benefit Advent Calendar Reveal Pt 2

Happy Christmas Eve (it feels surreal saying that)

I gave you a peep at the first 5 days of my Benefit Beauty Advent Calendar. And I thought I'd round of blogmas but showing you the rest. Today was the last day I opened. And as much as I've enjoyed the calendar I'm not totally sure its worth the value for 12 days.

They had some brilliant products but I would've loved a 24 days one. I am excited to properly use all the bits I've got though.

Blogmas Day 23: My Christmas Day OOTD

Happy Christmas Eve Eve.

I've never pre planned my Christmas Day outfit but this year I decided I was going to be prepared as I've got an early start. It's really not a sparkly, special outfit as I'm pretty much just spending the day with family. But a Christmas jumper has to be worn on Christmas Day so I've put that into the outfit.

Like I said it's not special, I just wanted to be comfy. Of course my makeup will be the sparkly shimmery bit.

Blogmas Day 22: 52 Lists: Week 10: List the ways you can cleanse for Spring

52 lists, week 10 brings the way you cleanse for Spring. Its obviously not Spring yet and to be honest I'm not a massive Spring cleaner. I kind of just clean and throw things out when I feel I need to.

So this is list is very very short. It's juts got the basics I do to clear out.

Blogmas Day 21: Last Minute Gift Guide for Her

I did a gift guide for him right at the beginning of blogmas. And it only seemed fair I did a gift guide for her. I probably should have done this earlier but other posts just came around first.

If you have a friend, girlfriend, wife, mum, whichever female relative, you've left buying for til the last minute. Here's a last minute gift guide to give you ideas.

Blogmas Day 20: Christmas (Party) Nails

To follow on from my party outfits post I thought I'd do a party nail tutorial kind of thing. I have put up a general winter/Christmas nail varnish post. But this is going to be more specific and show you a nail look I tried a few years ago and have used variations of since then.

It does involve sparkle because to me you can't have party or Christmas without a bit of sparkle.

Blogmas Day 19: Last minute Christmas Jumpers

With only 6 days til Christmas, you might just be getting your last minute bits and one of those things might be Christmas jumpers. So here's my pick of places to try. Of course it'll be too late to order online but the shops are just as brilliant.

Primark

I'll start with the obvious - Primark. They seem to sell more and more xmas jumpers every year and they've really gone to town this year. With jumpers that play music and have lights. However they do have 'more traditional' ones with fluffy bobbles and bows sewed on. Two I really liked, for women, were quite a simple ones - one with snowmen stitched on and another reindeers. They're really simple and perfect for those who don't like garish designs.

For the males, I'm really liking the simple cotton and wool jumpers they have with christmassy designs. Again, they're very simple and perfect for everyday wear too.

Blogmas Day 18: Christmas Wishlist

There's not a mass amount of things I want this Christmas. I got so much for my 21st I'm definitely not expecting a lot. But there a few bits I want.

Urban Decay Naked Palette Collection

I saw a picture which contained all of the Naked palette's and it's always been something that I've wanted. I've got the original palette and am slowly looking to build my collection. They're all just so beautiful and pigmented.

Blogmas Day 17: Christmas Presents Wrapping

I did some presents wrapping over weekend and got a little bit too into it. I watched Zoella's Wrapping Ideas video and after spending some time looking at different ways to wrap, thought I'd give it a go.

Going wrapping decor hunting made me realise just how much is out there and just how much people get into it. (It's really not hard to go all out like I found out)

I picked up a few bits from The Christmas Shop which has opened in town. But was really surprised by how much they had in Wilkinsons. I bought some different strings and ribbons and raffa to wrap with and some holly packs. They had so much you could use though I had to stop myself going overboard. So here are a few bits I created.

Blogmas Day 16: Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

No one understands how excited I was to get my hands on the new UDxGwen palette. As soon as I heard Gwen Stefani was collabing with UD, I was pretty intrigued to see what colours she'd include, how she'd package it, all of that. And seeing pictures of it I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

Urban Decay isn't a brand I own a lot of because of the price. But with this palette I didn't care how much it was I wanted to have it. The pictures made me want so much more and it looked so beautiful. So I finally decided to take a trip to Debenhams to get one.

Blogmas Day 15: 52 Lists: Week 9: List the places you want to go

It's been a while since I posted a 52 lists post (oops sorry) but I'm going to be posting a few through Blogmas and it's Week 9 time. List the places you want to go.

I found this harder than I thought I would. But I've tried to pick the main few places I really want to go. I mean if I could I'd love to see all of the world. But here you go.

Blogmas Day 14: Stocking Fillers

As it gets closer to Christmas you might have done your main presents shopping but be looking for stocking fillers. There's many brilliant, quirky, useful bits and bobs you could buy. But here's some ideas just in case.

Socks/Undergarments

Let's start with the obvious. If you're anything like me, you'll love getting socks just as much as any other present. My feet usually tend to be cold so fluffy socks can't be given enough. Primark, TK Maxx, Asos all do some really nice individual ones and sets. Whether its simple, patterned, bright or fluffy socks there's some for everyone. It might seem like a boring present but as a stocking filler you could find some really cute ones.

Blogmas Day 12: Benefit Advent Calendar Reveal

In prep for Christmas, I knew I wanted a beauty calendar. I had the No7 one last year and it was definitely worth it. So this year I decided to try another one and picked Benefit. I liked the look of it last year but was too late. I wasn't going to miss it this year though.

It is a 12 days calendar though which is a bit gutting but I've decided to open one every other day. And with it being day 12, I thought I'd give you a peep at what I've had so far.

Blogmas Day 11: Party Outfit Picks

Two weeks from Christmas and I bet the parties are in full swing. But if you've got one coming up and till haven't got a dress, here's a few places you could try.

Boohoo

Boohoo has become my go to online website for most dresses. They do a wide selection but plain to more dressed and then party. And they're all very reasonably priced. I've picked a few of my faves.

Blogmas Day 10: Christmas Tag

I thought I'd do a Christmas tag for my next post and give you an even better peep into me.

1. What's your favourite Christmas movie/s?

I've already answered this in my favourite movies post but from that list it's gotta be Home Alone. It's just a funny film that I love watching around Christmas.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

Christmas morning otherwise what's the fun in it. You've got to wait til Christmas Day to open your presents.

Blogmas Day 8: Red Velvet cupcakes recipe (or at least I tried that flavour)

I decided to get baking over the weekend and delved into baking red velvet cupcakes. I'd never made them before but love eating that flavour of cake.

Well when I made the mixture it tasted like red velvet but the cooked cakes didn't so much. They still tasted alright so here's a recipe for some kind of redy/brown/chocolate cupcakes.

But I do have certain shades I wear more in summer and others I wear more in winter. And I thought I'd give you a little peep into how my nails change through the seasons.

Blogmas Day 6: Favourite Christmas Films

One of the great things about this time of year is the Christmas films. They seem to have started really earlier this, I think I remember seeing them on mid November. But there's a few classics I love watching around this time.

1. Home Alone - How can you not love Home Alone?! It's a funny, family classic and you can't help but love Kevin and the mischief he causes.

2. Muppet's Christmas Carol - Another classic. It's one film based on Christmas I enjoy. The Muppets just make it a kiddy fun film.

3. The Holiday - Who doesn't love a bit of Jude Law? It's not Christmas til this film has come on. It is a bit of a chick flick but I can watch it over and over and not get bored.

4. Harry Potter - Not a christmas christmas film but ITV usually show the whole franchise around Christmas and being a massive fan. I have to watch them all for the 10 millionth time!

I'm so excited to start watching Christmas films, wrapped up in my blanket with a cup of tea. It's definitely one of my favourite things.

They're my top 4 fave films and I can't wait to see what other one's are on TV this year. What are your fave Christmas films?

I've heard good things about the Makeup Rev brushes and I hope I'm not disappointed. This set only cost me £8 which was a bargain considering how much you can spend on make up brushes.

Blogmas Day 4: Christmas Tree Reveal

Putting up the Christmas tree is absolutely one of my favourite things to do. I'm always the one who does it and because I've been away at uni for the past 3 years, our tree has always gone up late. So this year I wasn't going to wait.

And I thought I'd share with you all. We've had this tree for about 30 odd years so it's amazing it's still in the condition it's in.

I bought a few sets of new bauble's this year from The Range and Wilkinson's. But the others we just seem to have accumulated over the year. I'm not one that plans what their tree will look like I kind of just go with the flow. And how I feel when I'm putting it up.

But I went for a purple, green, gold theme this year.

Blogmas Day 2: Things I love about Christmas

I'm a massive Christmas person and this year was way too excited way too early. I'd eaten my first mince pie about mid-October. But can you blame me they're so yummy. Anyway I thought I'd take this post to let you all in on things I love about Christmas.

1. Family

I love Christmas because it's the one time a year you get together properly as a family. You just get to catch up, no one's in a rush to go anywhere or worrying about work or whatever. It's just about enjoying each other's company and having a laugh.

Blogmas Day 1: Gift Guide for Him

So I'm doing something courageous (for me). I'm attempting to do Blogmas - where I'll put up a blog post everyday til Christmas. I can quite bad at blogging regularly and have definitely been going through a post ideas block for the past few weeks.

But Blogmas is something I've never done before so wanted to give it a go this year. And I'm starting with gift ideas for him.

Grow your own beer plant kit - Not on the high street

I did a gift ideas post a few weeks ago but it was more general, focusing on places to buy gifts. I mentioned not on the high street in that post and it's brilliant! There's so much on it from the cute to the quirky. And whilst browsing I found something that made me laugh a bit - A grow your own beer plant kit. I haven't read how to make it but it comes with instructions and could be a funny gift for a beer lover. For £9.95 it's a pretty reasonable price too.

Nottingham Christmas Markets

I went into Nottingham earlier this week and every year they have some really pretty markets in the main 'market square'. There's loads of log style cabins selling food, hand made items and toys. And they have an ice rink in the middle.

I actually went to look for some Christmas presents but couldn't find much. Notts Christmas markets aren't massive but you can find some nice bits.

Anyway, I took a few pictures and I thought I'd share them with you.

A London Adventure

Over the weekend, myself and 2 friends decided to plan a last minute trip to London. We've all just recently just graduated so as a celebration had planned to go back to our uni city - Sheffield. But as we left it til Friday (very us) to book things, we worked out it'd cost us similar amounts to go up north and down south.

So the genius idea of London came up! And honestly it was the best day and a half which I thought I'd share with you.

We booked a place about 20 mins from central London near Canary Wharf.

I've shared some pictures on Instagram but I thought I'd do a little ootd post as well.

Christmas Gift Ideas

I'm not sure if it's too early to mention the C word but I'm going to anyway. I walked into Boots the other day and was definitely impressed with their Christmas gift boxes and collections. And so the idea of doing a gift ideas post popped into my head.

Boots

Let's start with the place I just mentioned. Boots have a brilliant selection of Christmas gifts from classics like perfume/aftershave gift sets to a Nandos gift. They even have a mixed selection of teas set. I've just found they seem to have more selection this year.

I found some little stocking fillers like bath bombs, socks, lip balms and more. These would even be great put together to make a bigger present. They have a 3 for 2 offer on most of their standard Christmas gift sets. But sometimes they do one-off offers so you might be lucky and catch one of them.

How to Live the Chelsea Life: Obnoxious or The Truth?

Make-up Haul

Naughty me has been spending I don't have (well it was kind of my birthday money) on make up. So I thought I'd share what I've bought.

Laura Geller Make-up Primer
This is a new find of mine. When I went into Debenhams to try out the Too Faced Foundation, the lovely Sales Advisor decided to give me a makeover in the process of colour matching foundation.

So to prime my face she introduced me to Laura Geller and the hydrating primer. She told me if you've ever flicked onto the shopping channel QVC you might have seen her products on there. But they've now decided to sell the brand in stores too. The sales advisor found my skin to be quite dry and suggested this would help that. So far I've been enjoying using it. It does the job so I'm going to keep using it and hope that doesn't change.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
Too Faced is fast becoming a popular brand in my make-up bag. After absolutely falling in love with the Better than Sex Mascara, I wanted to give the foundation a try. I'm currently using The Body Shop one and as much as I've loved it up to now it doesn't seem to agree with my skin lately. So I was going to wait til I'd finished my bottle of that but couldn't resist buying the Born This Way

I only bought it last week but have pretty much used it everyday and loved it. It glides on effortlessly and have found it so easy to blend. You get a medium to full coverage depending on how much you put on and it leaves a slight dewy effect. But it's not over oily or shiny. For now I'd say this one to buy but I'll keep you updated.

Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer and Highlighter

This has been one I've always wanted to buy but have always tried alternatives and other brands. Everyone seems to rave about this. And there's a make-up shop in town where I live, Loughborough, that sells beauty items at a slightly more reasonable price. Popping in there I couldn't resist picking this up.

Again, there's a reason behind this. When I went into Debenhams, the make-up advisor used the Laura Geller highlighter on me which I absolutely loved but knew I couldn't afford alongside everything else so I left it. But ever since I've been looking for a good highlighter so when I saw the Chocolate Bronzer combo I had to give it a try.

Sleek Santa Marina Blush By 3 Palette
I absolutely love Sleek blushers but I had no idea they'd even realised a Nautical Collection. So when I saw this I had to give it a try. I love that the shades aren't too bright so I reckon this could be an Autumnal Palette as well as a Summery one.

I love the neutral shade in the middle perfect for when you just want some shimmer and not too much colour. I'm excited to give everything a proper try and definitely won't be buying more make-up any time soon. I'm all make-up-ed out for now.

Have you tried any of these items? I'd love to know how you found them.

If you know me, you know how much I love nail varnishes. It's very rare you'll find me without nail varnish on. And a few weeks ago while in TK Maxx, I found a Ciaté London collection and couldn't resist buying it.

TK Maxx seems to surprise me with the products they sell. I'm loving it more and more. The beauty brands they have seems to have grown and it's all so reasonably priced. This set only cost me £7.99 which is an absolute bargain considering they're Ciaté varnishes.

Cohorted September Beauty Box

I've been patiently waiting for my Cohorted Beauty Box ever since the 1st September hit. It's my first one and after hearing so much about them, when I got the email for the Sept one I knew I had to give it a try.

And it's safe to say I wasn't disappointed when I came home to find it sitting on my bed. Considering I paid about £20 for it, at first glance it's worth it. I want to do this as an intro/haul post and then post another one a few weeks down the line to give you an update on what I think of the products.

So opening it I had no idea what to expect, how many items they'd send me or what kind of beauty items they'd be. But this is what I got...

Prairie Charms Goodies

So, I've not been posting in the past few weeks because I've been trying to get through the final few weeks of University. But I has some spare time and thought I'd post this.

Quite a few weeks ago I ordered a Prairie Charms 'goody bag'. If you've never heard of them they're a handmade accessories company. I had no idea what'd come in it but for £5 I was definitely going to give it a try. Stupidly I ordered it to my home address so only opened it last weekend when I went home, even though it'd been there for a while.

I was pretty excited to see what I got inside as I'd never ordered from Prairie Charms before but had seen some really cute things.

But I've actually been looking forward to writing this post for a few weeks because even from the end of February there's been a few bits and bobs I've loved.

You Can Do It

So, I wasn't planning on writing this post but I just felt I wanted to kind of just have a chat. I hope it doesn't bore you too much.

So today's a pretty big day. Well no way near as graduation, or getting my first job, or buying my first house - I think you get the point - but to me, it's a pretty big day.

The day I hand in my Applied Project (or you may know it as Dissertation).

Mothers Day Present: What I Bought Her

Sunday was Mothers Day in the UK and going home from uni was a last minute decision so I kind of bought my mum's present last minute. And where's one of the best places to buy presents last minute... notonthehighstreet.com

I love that website for presents, they're all that cheap but there's some really quirky, cute, different things on there. If I'm looking for something special I'll always head to Not on the Highstreet. Anyway, browsing on there, one thing really caught my eye and it was a...

Tips To Help With Dissertations/Big Projects

For students, final year means one big D word - Dissertations. Something we all know is inevitably coming but hope never actually comes. My deadline is in two weeks. Yes TWO WEEKS. Slight panic is setting in.

On my course, we're slightly luckier and have the option of doing something called an Applied Project (AP for short). But don't be fooled it's just as hard and time consuming. Instead of sitting there and writing 6000 odd words, you make something like a magazine, radio segment, blog etc. You get to pick the topic and have something to show for your hard work at the end, I think that's why I picked this option.

Peddlers Night Market in Sheffield

So over the weekend I went to something that I found quite interesting - a street-food night market. It was set up by a company called Peddler in Sheffield. I actually went for a uni project but couldn't help but blog about it on here.

Basically, all these street-food traders came to one street in Sheffield and conveniently it was right behind where I live, so how could I not go?

Review: Whittard Tea, Hot Chocolate and Biscuits

I don't really post food/drink reviews actually I don't think I've ever done one. But a few weeks ago I came across a company called Whittard of Chelsea and got a hold of a few samples of their tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. Trying them I knew a review post was very much needed.

Review: Sniffy Wiffy Blueberry Lotion

Reading this, you may have no idea what or who Sniffy Wiffy is. And neither did I until I went to the Bloggers Love London Fashion Week event last week.

Meeting the lovely people there, they explained to me they sell 'homemade beauty and grooming products' (to quote their Twitter bio). So they sell body creams, scrubs, body oils etc. And the idea behind them to spread awareness of Breast Cancer and Testicular Cancer. We all use body lotions and moisturisers on our skin and they want to promote the idea of checking your skin for signs of Breast and Testicular Cancer when you use your moisturiser.

Their lotions and scrubs even come with the option of ordering a tub which comes with a label showing you how to check yourself. And a proportion of their profits go to Cancer charities. Hearing this I loved the idea behind it and picked up a little sample they had.
